McBreen’s DISAB Vacuum Truck service unit

McBreen Environmental’s DISAB vacuum truck service unit

DISAB vacuum is a unit that can transport bulk materials and liquids by vacuum or pressure through a hose system with a diam up to 200 mm. The unit is equipped with a separate diesel engine offering the possibility of utilizing different local fuel taxation regulation. It also makes the machine operate independent of the truck. The material tank and filter compartment are combined and the dust from the filter compartment is emptied through a hatch in the partition wall in the tank at the same time as the tank is tilted. Collected material is discharged by tilting the tank or pneumatically through a hose.

DISAB High Power Vacuum Truck

McBreen Environmental’s DISAB Unit provides an extremely powerful and versatile suction and blowing machine, which can be used for both wet and dry applications. It has a hose system with a diameter of up to 200mm and provides a maximum vacuum of -900mbars. A telescopic boom with extension pipes reduces manual handling for high level work, while the machine also benefits from a low noise level (75 dBA at 7 metres distance) and a unique filter solution that reduces dust emissions to only 1,3 mg/m. The tank has a gross volume of 12,000 litres, while collected material can be discharged by tilting the tank or pneumatically through a hose.
Works using this machine are carried out by experienced operators, further ensuring that work is carried out in the most efficient and cost-effective manner possible. This machine has the benefit of a high tip capacity enabling waste to be bulked up on site and removed in one shipment, all of which means less time spent on site, and significant cost savings for our customers. We can act at short notice to emergency requirements, offering the machine on a project or day rate to suit individual customer requirements.

Further uses

We pride ourselves in our knowledge of machinery and the ability to select the right equipment for every job. Our specialist cleaning services are designed to cater for any project or challenge we may face on a daily basis. With our powerful DISAB UNIT WE INCREASE THE EFFICIENCY AND TYPES OF SERVICES WE PROVIDE AND INDUSTRIES WE SERVE.
This type of machine is typically used in the following industries:

  • Steel
  • Cement
  • Power
  • Heating
  • Paper and pulp
  • Wastewater treatment plants
  • Pumping stations
  • Industrial tanks
  • Vacuum Excavation to locate Underground Utilities

With our powerful DISAB vacuum machinery, we can clean a wide variety of industrial silos and material storage vessels:

  • Paper and pulp
  • Wastewater treatment plants
  • Silos and Hoppers
  • Deep Pump Stations
  • Reservoirs/Retention Ponds/Sumps and Tanks
  • Filters – Sand and Activated Carbon
  • Interceptors
  • Solvent Storage Tanks
  • Culvert Cleaning

Historically in Ireland, there has been a lack of high capacity industrial machines to complete specific industrial tank cleaning projects. However, with the addition of our DISAB units, we are now in a position to provide all our clients with the best available technology in the area of materials handling, resulting in significant savings and minimal downtime.

Industrial Tank Cleaning

Using our high efficiency DISAB vacuum units, chemical cleaners and mobile power washing equipment, we can clean and remove hazardous and nonhazardous materials from containments such as:

  • Reservoirs, Ponds and Lagoons
  • Underground and over-ground tanks
  • Vessels
  • Sumps and Pits
  • Mines
  • Barges

Our highly specialised fleet of vacuum trucks and other equipment is capable of handling both wet and dry materials, including liquids, sludge and heavy solids.

Activated Carbon Removal / Filter Media Removal

We have implemented our vacuum excavation concept and completed numerous difficult projects that have resulted in significant savings for our customers. Using DISAB units, our highly trained and skilled operatives can maximise the performance of your machines by successfully removing filter media from any location, on any site. McBreen Environmental can remove filter media such as:

  • Sand
  • Activated carbon
  • Resin

Vacuum Excavation

Our custom-built DISAB vacuum technology, the DISAB LN200, is capable of removing all types of wet and dry sludge, slurry, filter cakes and sediments, as well as powders, granular materials, aggregates, ash and soil. The DISAB features a telescopic boom with extension pipes to reduce manual handling for high level work. The machine also benefits from a low noise level, (75 dBA at 7 metres distance), and a unique filter solution that reduces dust emissions to only 1.3 mg/m. The tank has a gross volume of 12,000 litres, while collected material can be discharged by tilting the tank or pneumatically through a hose.
Another application of our unit is to assist in the location of buried underground utilities. The vacuum loading capability of our units, when used on conjunction with compressed air or pressurised water to loosen the ground, enables us to “dig” for buried utility cables, without the risk of striking same with conventional excavators.
This system of excavation is frequently being employed by utility companies who are trying to locate buried cables or excavate bore holes or trial pits in contaminated sites, in the absence of utility maps. It is an extremely safe system of excavation as cables are not torn or broken by hydraulic excavation processes.

Water Treatment Infrastructure Maintenance

A regular programme of water treatment asset inspection, cleaning and maintenance will reduce the potential for microbiological, chemical or physical problems. Working with consultant engineering firms, civil engineering firms and Irish Water, McBreen Environmental offers a range of services to the Water Treatment industry with our specialist suction removal of GAC, sand filters and replacement of media using our DISAB equipment and experienced crews.
