24/7 Emergency Nationwide
600mm of Silt Removed to Restore Culvert Flow
3 December 2025
A heavily silted culvert, with deposits reaching 600mm, was restricting hydraulic capacity and increasing the risk of blockages and flooding. Our team was engaged to remove the silt, restore full flow, and protect the surrounding environment using a Jetvac Recycler and robust silt-mitigation controls.
Challenges
Heavy silt deposits restricting capacity and function
Need to manage water quality and prevent downstream pollution
Requirement to complete the works while safeguarding the surrounding environment
Outcome
Restored full functionality of the culvert
Reduced risk of blockages and flooding
Protected the local watercourse through proactive silt management
Delivered a long-term improvement in infrastructure performance
Solution

Results:
Approximately 600mm of accumulated silt was successfully removed from the culvert, restoring its full hydraulic capacity and allowing water to flow freely through the structure once again.
The use of the Jetvac Recycler system enabled efficient removal and management of sediment while maintaining strict environmental controls throughout the operation. Silt mitigation measures ensured that water leaving the culvert remained protected from contamination during the cleaning process.
The works were completed safely and efficiently, restoring the culvert’s operational performance while minimising disruption to the surrounding environment.
