Laser Profiling
Laser profile surveys, also known as laser profiling, provide highly accurate measurements of a pipe’s internal shape and diameter. Used alongside CCTV drain surveys, laser technology allows engineers to detect pipe deformation, ovality and structural changes that may not be obvious during a visual inspection. This advanced survey method is widely used for drainage condition assessments, rehabilitation planning and pipe deformation surveys.
CCTV inspections remain the foundation of effective drainage surveys. They provide clear visual evidence of blockages, defects, and structural issues. But when projects require accurate measurement, not just visuals, laser profiling adds another level of certainty.

What’s the difference between a CCTV “inspection” and a “full survey”?
A survey typically covers the entire drainage/sewer network in question, with full mapping, condition grading, defect mapping, video, stills ande written report. An inspection may focus on specific problem areas (blockage, leak, root intrusion) and may not be as exhaustive.
Do I need to prepare anything before the survey?
Yes. Ensure access to all relevant manholes/rodding points, and ensure safe access for vehicles or access equipment.
How long does a survey take, and what affects survey cost & time?
Depends on site size, pipe network complexity, number of access points, diameter/length. For a standard commercial facility, it may take a few hours; for large industrial networks or larger sewer networks could run for days.
